The Maypole Dairy Company shop was on the north side of The
Market Place in Hitchin, in the 1920s.
This photograph shows Archie Barber, William White, George Stallabrass
and Ernest Wright, the grocers there, at a time when butter and tea were still two
shillings a pound.
